Enhance your Lifestyle
What methods can make living in a small space in a strange city more interesting?
What are some expensive but worthwhile products to buy?
What are some good products or brands that are not well known among the general public?
A year or two ago, when I had just started working, I rented a room in a shared house and found that a girl had decorated her small room with various things, making it very cozy.
At the time, I was making nearly double her income, but when I looked at our living spaces and lifestyles, it seemed like the opposite was true.
I soon realized that the correlation between quality of life and income is not linear, or at least not what I originally thought.
Those posts on Zhihu are so long, Iāve been reading them for a while and still havenāt finished. Based on my needs, I selected a few:
Cote&Ciel Rucksack
As a male, spending 1K on a mouse and keyboard is no big deal, but this price for a bag feels expensive.
Iāll wait until I get paid.
OKO Water Filter Pitcher
This weird thing turns Cola into purified water, mind-blowing (Is it for drinking high-concentration Cola? ā_ā)
But I also need it for brewing tea or coffee, so the demand is not strong.
Retina MacBook Pro 13
A development tool and a meal companion.
Looking at it this way, itās an investment rather than just consumption.
I regret not getting the 15-inch top-of-the-line model.
iPad Air
I was influenced to buy a kindle before, but in the end I couldnāt avoid getting an iPad.
Itās great for reading PDFs, I just threw the kindle in a drawer, so those who didnāt buy a kindle should stop worrying about it.
iPhone 6
Waiting and waiting, finally thereās a big screen, eagerly awaiting the release.
BOSE QC 20i (Active Noise Canceling)
The whole world becomes quietā¦
Feeling:
Great value, highly recommended.
Logitech G700s
From G1 to MX518, now itās time to go wireless.
But I donāt play games as much anymore, so Iāll wait until I get paid.
Feeling:
11 customizable shortcuts, honestly canāt use themā¦
1W6 DPI, feels like floating.
Filco 87
Looked it up for a while, finally understood the Cherry MX Blue/Brown/Red/Black switches.
I thought the built-in keyboard and trackpad of the rMBP were enough.
But after playing Warcraft with the Filco and coding for a while, when I switched back to my laptop, the difference was immediately apparent - if I press the keys quickly, the keycaps wonāt bounce back (Iām addictedā¦).
I decided to try the rumored electrostatic capacitive keyboard: HHKB or Realforce.
But HHKB doesnāt have an F1 key, and Realforce is just too uglyā¦
And I want a silent one, thereās so much noise in the office, plus I have the QC 20.
Also, I just like the sound of the keyboard when playing Warcraft, magnetic levitation keyboards are still in the conceptual stage, so I naturally chose a mechanical one.
The Filco has a nice design.
The 67-key layout is a bit weird, but most importantly, I canāt select heroes with it. Aaaah!
I donāt need a 104-key compact keyboard.
So, I settled for the 87-key.
Feeling:
Can only say that the touchpad experience on a MacBook is top-notch.
When coding, I use the keyboard for positioning, I donāt move my hand much, but a mouse canāt do that.
Thatās why we have things like
Vim
andEmacs
for pure mouse flow.
Thereās no sound when playing games.
Check the APM, itās still the sameā¦
Itās about interacting with othersā¦
Braun CoolTec Shaver
Oral-B Electric Toothbrush S26
Feeling:
Itās really good, bought one for my parents too.
Now I brush my teeth every morning and evening.
Wooden SPA Bathtub
Iāll wait until I have my own place.
Hmm, it looks like income is still very relevantā¦
